A simple hostel in a lovely area. The staff were very kind, and the food was good.

It has the feel of a communist-era hostel, but it’s atmospheric and very clean. The bedding was clean and the beds comfortable. There’s what you need, including Wi-Fi throughout the property and a refrigerator in the room. The kitchen was clean and had dishes, a kettle, and a stove.

The only good things I can say are that a very nice lady cleaned up after us and the internet was free. Otherwise, it was a complete disaster. In our room, there was a hole in the floor, the door wouldn't shut properly and stayed slightly open while we slept, and at times it was so cold you had to wear a jacket. Pictures even fell on our heads during the night. There were five beds, but only one seemed to meet basic hygiene standards. One had a bug, another had a mattress soaked in urine, a third was moldy, and the fourth smelled awful. We were five people on a trip, so three of us had to share one bed, one slept on chairs, and another on the floor. The room was 8m by 10m, with a huge echo, yet it felt like it was meant for one person, not five. The toilets weren't any better: the doors wouldn't shut properly, the locks didn't work, and the second-floor toilet, the one with the green bowl in the photo, looked like it had been designed by a drunk. The downstairs toilets were so cramped they could give you claustrophobia, about 160 by 90 by 120. I strongly advise against staying here. I'll never go back, and I wouldn't recommend it to anyone. Maybe I was unlucky, since other people I stayed with had more space, but our room was something that should never have been built. That's just my opinion, of course.

The hostel conditions are pretty typical for a youth hostel, but it had the essentials that mattered to us: peace and quiet, bathrooms, showers, a kitchen, and other amenities. There’s Wi-Fi on site, and families can get a discounted ticket to the Julia Crystal Glassworks in Piechowice. The area is a great base for trips to the rocky town of Adrspach, Szklarska Poręba, the Czech Paradise, or even Prague. I highly recommend it!

There’s plenty of space outside, with volleyball courts and a place for a bonfire, and it’s a beautiful spot. The historic building is clean, though the conditions feel more like the 1960s than today.
