I was there for two nights and chose a cheap room, so I know what you pay affects what you get. Still, mine wasn't what I expected. There was no safe, no coffee or tea machine, and just one bottle of sparkling water with an open glass. The bathroom door was faulty and hard to open and close. It would be good to have still water too, since you don't know what guests prefer, and a downstairs vending machine for water or soft drinks. The restaurant is useful because other places to eat are a little far from the hotel. I'd give the dining and lunch facilities three stars. I ordered chicken schnitzel for dinner, but it didn't taste very good. I also asked for cola with the meal and the waiters forgot until I asked again. Maybe that sounds minor, but they only had three tables to serve and still missed the whole request. They always seemed busy.

The food was great, the staff friendly, and the inside looks good. It's about a 15 minute walk to the centre, and I'd come back when I'm in Poznan. The beds weren't great, the rooms looked filthy, and the water bottles had a weird taste.

The restaurant was good and the location was okay, within walking distance of the centre though not very close. The bed could be better. I stayed four nights, and the staff were terribly unprofessional. I travel often for work and spend a few days each month in hotels, and this was probably my worst experience so far because of the staff. Not recommended.

The breakfast buffet was really good, with a nice variety of food. For the price, it was good enough, but only with the windows fixed shut. Our blinds didn't work and we couldn't open a window in the middle of summer. It felt like staying in a sauna.

The room was clean and more than sufficient, and the staff were friendly. They were also happy to recommend places of interest in Poznań. Hotel Ikar is a good choice if you're visiting the lovely city of Poznań, with the Old Town a reasonably short walk away.
