Hotel Ambasadorski

Anna at reception made our stay especially memorable. She suggested a church for Sunday mass, brought me a fan herself, helped me get the a/c working, and quickly arranged a driver, guide, and interpreter for our genealogy research. The rooms were super clean and the hotel is right on the Old Town Square. The front desk person was the sweetest, making our first night in Poland feel amazing. The restaurant was being renovated, but we were told that when we booked, and our included breakfast was served just a few steps away at a wonderful restaurant.

We’ve got years of history here, so it’s hard for us to rate the place poorly. The rooms are as they’ve always been, and we recommend the half suite with its large tub. Prices have gone up significantly, and parking and breakfast now cost extra. The new Muru restaurant is a real plus: excellent dinner menu, outstanding desserts, and great evening service. The breakfast buffet is plentiful and very tasty 😋. The service at breakfast was the one letdown. They could smile and treat guests like guests.

A great spot, with a fantastic location, really friendly staff, and delicious breakfast.

The location was the only positive for us, and even that came with a downside. Friends who were staying at the front of the hotel were kept awake all night by very loud music from the square and eventually had to move into another friend’s room to have any chance of sleeping. When we arrived, we were told the kitchen was being renovated and the restaurant was closed. The reception and downstairs areas had clearly had time and money spent on them, but the rooms felt tired and dated. Our door lock wasn’t properly fixed, with a screw missing, so the door either wouldn’t close properly or set off the alarm. I reported it, but the receptionist just told me to pull harder. No one came to look at it or tried to fix it during our three-night stay. The advertised air conditioning wasn’t working or available. On the morning of our second day, all the plug sockets stopped working; after a long wait and two trips to reception, it was sorted. Shower water was either hot or very hot. This didn’t meet the advertised four-star standard. I’d advise avoiding it and staying somewhere else in the area.
