Hotel Marand

It was ridiculously cheap, but there’s no AC at all, and the heat in room 10 made our stay unbearable. My partner was close to passing out, so I put her in the shower to keep her from collapsing. I even started dampening the bed sheets. In the end we couldn’t take it anymore, packed up, and left in under four minutes. The hotel is also right beside a motorway. The reason I didn’t give it one star was the woman serving drinks and working reception. She was professional, understanding, and lovely. When we left, I explained why we were going, but I was very upset and feel I crossed the line at one point. I’d like to apologize unreservedly, and I really hope she sees this. We ended up at a new hotel right by the airport, which was cheap and pristine.

It’s easy to find, and the staff speak English and can give you lots of local information. The rooms are simple. The cousin and breakfast were excellent, and the pizza was outstanding. A few things to know: ask for a room facing the back, since morning traffic can be disturbing. There’s no laundry service, which could be an issue if you’re staying for several weeks, and we saw an occasional bug in the bathroom. Getting to the centre by public transport is poor on weekends.

Great prices, and a handy spot if you’ve got an early flight. The restaurant is cozy and the food was delicious. Rooms were warm and quiet, and the staff paid attention. Try their hot beer in winter. I’d go back!

The morning breakfast area was a highlight, with filling food to get your day started. It’s a nice little hotel set quietly off the road, with a convenient location and a great price. Staff were pleasant and very professional. Recommended for a quick stop or a longer stay.
