Gosciniec Stary Rynek

The place was locked and dark when I got to Siemiatycze, more than 200 km from home, with nowhere to stay. Booking couldn't reach me either. I'd booked through Booking and had confirmation, but couldn't get anyone by phone. I left a message asking to arrange an arrival time, then tried calling a dozen or so times and still got no reply. Luckily, a room had opened up at Kresowiak. Otherwise I might have had to walk to the train station. I would've rated this minus 10 stars. What a disaster, and so irresponsible!

We were right on the market square in Siemiatycze, and the owners made us feel very welcome. Thanks for the tasty breakfasts, their tips on things to see, and the help getting to and from the train station. The rooms were clean, and the atmosphere was really pleasant. We highly recommend it!

I ended up demanding a refund and giving up the room, fortunately. The owner's treatment of children was rude, and I wouldn't recommend this place to families. She came across as arrogant and irritating, and the service was unprofessional and very unpleasant. The dining room's decor and condition didn't make us want to eat there, and there's no private parking. I'd pay the extra 20 złoty for Cezar or Kresowiak, with their private secure parking and excellent facilities. Gościniec Stary Rynek would only be my last resort. Honestly, I'd rather sleep in my car than deal with the owner. I'm usually a peaceful person, but her rude behavior got under my skin. I highly recommend it!

Coming back to the guesthouse felt stressful, since I was worried the owner would blow up again. She kept scolding guests over little things, like how to carry a suitcase or supposedly slamming a door, even though there hadn't been any slamming. When I asked about the hot water during a breakdown, she just repeated that there wasn't any and asked how she was supposed to know when it would be back. The place didn't feel welcoming at all, and the staff were incredibly arrogant. The hotel itself was otherwise okay, but in the “ensuite” rooms the bathroom is in a separate room down the hall, and the double beds are actually two singles.
