I never got half of the refundable damage deposit back. The host said I had damaged the marble tile in the shower, pointing to what looked like an indelible mark from a mat. I explained that I’d only used shampoo and soap and couldn’t have caused it, even if I’d tried, but that didn’t help. Later I found an earlier video where the mark was already visible. The host said I should have reported it at check-in. I hadn’t even noticed it, since it wasn’t obvious among the apartment’s other small issues, but that didn’t change their position. When none of my explanations worked, I said I’d leave an honest bad review if the deposit wasn’t returned. They accused me of blackmail and threatened a lawsuit. I wouldn’t recommend staying here. Under their rules, you’d better report every bit of damage as soon as you arrive, or they might charge you for anything.
