Sopot Point

We had a positive experience, and I'm sorry this accommodation has such a low Google Maps rating. Maybe that comes down to personal expectations. It sits right in central Sopot's tourist area, next to the Dancing House, but on a quiet street where the noise from the main road is barely audible. It's an old building, but they have done what they can for guests' comfort. We stayed in room 1. Part of it is a carved veranda that has been converted into a room. It matched the photos and description on Booking, where we made the reservation, and the windows opened to let in fresh air. There are lots of good restaurants nearby.

Tragic experience. I've been trying to cancel through Booking.com since Tuesday, June 24th, but all we could do was submit a request, and nothing happened. We called on Thursday and got an incompetent person who said we could cancel through Booking.com and had to handle it ourselves. We had already done that, but it meant losing 2,500 PLN, the full reservation price. Booking.com's hotline was just as clueless. They sent another cancellation request, still with no result. Total disrespect for the customer. I don't recommend them.

The place was so dirty and untidy it's hard to describe. The apartment was stuffy, the windows were screwed shut and wouldn't open, and the terrace was closed off, filthy, and littered. In the bathroom, the hairdryer was damaged and seemed unsafe. When we reported it, the landlord said it was only an extra and didn't need to be there. The shower door was broken, the soap dish looked like it hadn't been cleaned for weeks, and the filthy lamps above the mirror were falling apart. The radiator was dirty, rusty, and peeling. Even the kettle on the table was caked in dust. The towels and bed linen had holes. We've stayed in Sopot before, but didn't expect this in the very centre. We were disappointed by how dismissive the owners were. They said we could move out at 8 PM and get our money back, but we turned that down since finding a weekend place at a similar price in that location was impossible. The owner called his offer the cheapest on the market, but that doesn't excuse failing to meet even a basic standard of hygiene and good taste. Later they offered half our money back, which still hasn't arrived. I've reported the matter to booking.com. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone. A waste of money, time, and a lot of stress.
