Even though we'd clearly given our arrival time, there were no keys waiting when we got to Victus Apartments – Apartment Etna. We were left outside on the road with family and friends in freezing weather at –4°C, with no reply or help from the property. After a long string of complaints, they sent the wrong keys and incorrect information, leaving us to wait even longer in the cold. Then the owner stopped responding altogether, and Booking.com had to cancel because they couldn't reach them. This was unsafe and inhumane, not just inconvenient. The property showed no professionalism, responsibility, or care for guests, and the experience ruined our trip and caused serious stress.
We rented Apartment Azyl in Sopot and asked for a cot for our four-month-old. What arrived smelled damp, was stained, and even had a dead insect in it. I was disgusted and insulted that someone had brought it in and assembled it thinking it was acceptable. It made me question the cleanliness of the entire apartment. When I called, it took several attempts and a long wait to get an answer. The woman I spoke with was dismissive and said our baby should sleep in bed with us, and to call the next day because it was Saturday and nothing could be done. I ended up going to Gdansk at my own expense to buy a cot, a terrible way to start our first day in Sopot. They reimbursed the cost at the office after I complained again at checkout, but I'm still angry they thought that cot was suitable for a baby. Getting in touch with Victus was difficult throughout. They only told me on arrival day that keys had to be collected from their office. The email had the wrong location for my booking, and despite calling several advertised numbers multiple times, I couldn't reach anyone to clarify it. They rent properties seven days a week but don't seem to want to work weekends. I don't think it's acceptable to operate in this industry and be unreachable then.
The Seaside loft was a really nice apartment. Getting and returning the keys was self-service, but keeping track of five keys was a hassle.
EXTRA INFO, Powiatowa Stacja Sanitarno-Epidemiologiczna inspected the place and fined victus apartamenty. I filed a claim on booking.com, and the flat has been reported to the local authorities in Gdansk and Sopot. The worst issue was a terrible smell, which of course can't be captured in photos. We reported it just after arriving, but it was late and they couldn't help us. The manager on duty didn't want to assist that night, so we slept with all the windows open to get some fresh air, with our 24-month-old baby there. After we went to the office the next day, the cleaning service finally came. The manager said the smell came from the cleaning product and should clear in 2-3 days. It never did, and is still awful. There was also major renovation work right outside the apartment, which I believe had been planned in advance. We weren't told about it, and noise came right to our door every morning. Plenty of things in the flat were broken or dirty. We asked for half a refund because we spent half our stay trying to get the smell out, but they refused. That morning they treated me in a humiliating way. They offered us another apartment, but it was too far from the sea and had no elevator or parking, both key requirements for us with a small baby. On Friday morning I went to reception and found the three people responsible arrogant and completely unhelpful. I asked them to come to our flat and confirm the smell was still there, but they wouldn't even get up. When I said we'd report them, they laughed and said, "we know the rules." They didn't take our request seriously. We also looked at social media reviews and it seemed this wasn't the first complaint about smells, dirty accommodation, and terrible customer service. They deleted and blocked me on social media so my real comment wouldn't appear. A baby of two could reach an electrical cable. The bathroom and bed were dirty, the bed was broken, and the service was arrogant. Victus also charged me 189pln in city tax instead of the 89pln shown on the booking registration. Scam. All the pictures were taken by me without any changes.
For a tourist, you really just need a bed and a shower. The beds were awful, though the shower was even worse. We could either get scalded by boiling water or freeze, with no in-between. I've never been so disappointed by a bathroom. The listing also said there'd be a hair dryer, but there wasn't one.
