Villa Alexandra

The location is the one good thing, right by the promenade and beach. The hotel itself was a mess. The beds were very hard, the doors old and noisy, the shower made a lot of noise, and the cupboards wouldn’t close properly. We were told on day one that someone would come fix them, but nobody ever showed up. Rooms were cleaned only if we asked, the bins weren’t emptied, and we had to buy our own toilet paper. There was never anyone at reception. Breakfast was awful. The rolls were like cardboard, and the sausage was just as tasteless. The two heavyset men from the hotel were incredibly unfriendly. Parking was far too limited, and the fee was outrageous. Most worrying, I saw only one fire alarm and one extinguisher in the whole hotel, both on the top floor. There was nothing in the rooms, and the hotel door was always locked. What would happen if there were a fire? I’ll never stay there again. The whole hotel should be torn down, or run by people who enjoy the work, take it seriously, and aren’t just there to make money.

Friendly staff, a really good breakfast, and clean, spacious rooms. A lovely little hotel.

We came back for a second visit, this time with our family, and everyone thought the standard was high. The rooms are unusually large and roomy, with a luxurious feel, and the place is quiet enough to properly relax. Its spot on the city map is perfect, too. Aleksandra and her staff made us feel looked after. We’ll definitely return.

The place is wonderfully quiet even though it’s right on the promenade. The cook, the cleaning lady, and the manager are fantastic. Highly recommend it, and we’ll be back for sure.
