The location is handy for the railway station, though there’s some distance to the Old City. Breakfast was very good, but it was served in the neighboring hotel, so I can’t say whether the experience would be the same at Ibis itself. The room we had needed redecorating, and the cleaning could have been more thorough. The beds are high, but the thin top mattresses slide around badly when you turn over. There was a hairdryer in the room, but it was so weak that anyone with hair longer than 1 cm would find it almost impossible to dry their hair. I was surprised to learn there wasn’t another one to borrow. What if the one in the room breaks? I’d say this was more like 3.5 stars, though I didn’t want to give it 3. I expected more from this chain, since its hotels are usually good, and I’ve stayed in a lot of places as a seasoned traveler.

There’s even a guitar in the lobby for guests to use, which is a nice touch. The staff were pleasant and professional, and actually smiled, which doesn’t seem typical of Polish service workers. Our room was small and had a low ceiling, like those in the U.S., but it was clean. It’s about a six-minute walk to the old city centre. I do wonder why this cost 20 zlotys more, 260 total, than the IBIS in the old town. There’s a small Zabka next door with a friendly gentleman. For dinner, try NAGA Thai restaurant, then head back a block to Piwnica Pub for Karaoke on Saturdays. Good times!

The rooms were good value, and I came away feeling like I’d stayed in a 5-star hotel. Breakfast was plentiful and well prepared. The staff were attentive, focused on service, and accommodating of our special needs.
