Hotel Viki

The park and nature nearby are the only things this place has going for it. The hotel feels like a dump and should have closed long ago. The lobby was dark as a cave when we arrived, and I wish we'd left right then. The staff were unprofessional. One employee brought in a sick child who ran around coughing; four days later, my wife tested positive for COVID. Our room was clean, and the sheets were clean too, though they had visible old stains. Everything else felt old, the carpet was stained and worn, and it took 20 minutes for the shower water to get warm. The hallway lights only came on when you got close, leaving it dark and gloomy. The balcony looked as if it hadn't been maintained in a decade. In the morning, staff had loud conversations and mingled with guests in the breakfast area. The coffee machine was broken. Staff used the kettle to make coffee and tea for themselves while customers waited for hot water for tea or instant coffee. Their loud, unprofessional talk showed no regard for guests. I've never seen such behavior in a hotel. Get the price in writing. The amount quoted over the phone changed when it was time to pay. The front desk staff are also used for cleaning, so the main door may be closed and sometimes nobody is at reception. The place can look closed or out of business. I wouldn't leave my dog here. I won't stay here again, even if it were the last place available.

We had a family gathering for 35 people in the restaurant, and the food was delicious. The staff were very friendly and helpful, so I'd happily come back. The hotel is beautifully situated in the park by the lake, with easy access and plenty of parking.

The room wasn't very clean, and quite a few things around the hotel were broken or didn't work. It's an old, tired place, but we still enjoyed our stay. The location is beautiful, right by the lake, with great cycling nearby. The staff are few in number but very friendly and attentive.

The food was average, and we found a spider in our room. Still, it was OK overall.
