Marsjanka

Our four-bed booking turned out to be two rooms, one with three beds and the other with one. The bigger issue was the shower, which had no hot water. After spending all day on the slopes, being able to wash properly matters. We told the staff, and although they said it would be fixed soon, nothing changed. The staff member seemed as if being there was a punishment, though the lady herself was actually nice.

We stayed in a balcony room with a table and two chairs, looking out toward Skrzyczne. There's also a big terrace with places to sit, a barbecue spot, and a little pond with fish. The location is quiet but still near the center, trails, shops, and bus stops. The owners were kind and helpful, giving us a map and suggestions for places to visit and trails to take. Breakfast costs extra, but I can recommend it wholeheartedly. There was fresh bread, a range of cold cuts and cheeses, vegetables, and scrambled eggs. The room was clean and came with towels, a table and two chairs, a kettle, plates, cups, and cutlery. The bathroom had a small shower gel/shampoo, although sometimes the hot water took a while. There's a shared fridge in the hallway. My husband found the bed hard, but it suited me, so comfort depends on what you like.

Clean, tidy, pleasant, and with a strong highlander accent. Honestly, Szczyrk has worse rooms. This one has a slightly higher standard than a prison cell, and you can even get a view of the hills. The main downside for me is the charge for furry dogs, especially dogs that help people for free. I hope people here eventually stop seeing dogs as a problem, since they often clean up after people more and more. The location at "Marsjanka" is perfect. The rooms would get the usual "3" rating on a 0 to 5 scale here. The staff are smiling and have a highlander's attitude, NO 😉 We didn't end up renting a room, and it might have been nicer in "Marsjanka" than in a cell. My partner picked quarters a bit farther away, maybe she likes that morgue/cell feeling: cramped and claustrophobic, with a hedge a meter from the window. The bathroom was so tight that a slim guy, 70kg/174cm, could hardly turn around without hurting a limb. Now I get why people die between four walls more often than in the mountains.

The blue trail to Skrzyczne starts right by the Marsjanka Guesthouse, and there are several restaurants nearby. Our room was clean, and breakfast was tasty and included in the rate. The owners were very friendly, especially the elderly lady we enjoyed chatting with over breakfast. I'd gladly recommend staying here.
