:-) Really good.
Seriously, the smell, dirt, and rundown state were awful. It may just be a workers’ hotel, but it should still meet some basic standards. If nobody cleans, at least provide cleaning supplies. The bath water was cold, and on top of that it was brown. Disgusting.
The breakfast was poor, but otherwise I’d recommend the place, especially for younger people who aren’t after expensive, high-end accommodation. The price is very reasonable, and you can rent ski gear, though I can’t comment on its quality since I’m no expert. The cottage has a strong mountain feel. Its interior is unusual and probably not to everyone’s taste, with carpets, old furniture, and animal skins on the walls. For me, staying somewhere with that character was a real pleasure and added something to my winter visit to the Karkonosze Mountains. The cottage sits in a hollow, which makes for an interesting view. It’s near a Netto supermarket, if I remember correctly, as well as several other shops. Walking over snow-covered ground to the train station took me about 30 minutes.
The place has clearly seen better days. I stayed two nights in August, and the room was freezing; the kids slept in fleeces. The old, leaky windows didn’t help, and the balcony window wouldn’t shut properly, so I had to hold it closed with a chair. There were problems inside too. The bathroom door wouldn’t close, the tiles moved, and the shower stall was slightly out of adjustment. The owner couldn’t even provide four matching mugs. They were a mismatched bunch, and when I rubbed one with my finger, greasy black gunk came off. A disaster. At least it was only two nights; I wouldn’t have lasted a week.
We’ve been coming here for three years, since my son was one, and I recommend it to families who like a warm, family atmosphere. It’s particularly good for children. Service is very good, the standard matches the description, and the food is excellent. Everything is nearby, especially the slopes. If you expect at least five-star standards, I’d suggest Gołębiowski Hotel instead. But whether you’re by the mountains, lakes, or sea, the atmosphere isn’t the most important thing anyway. It’s the same everywhere.
