Willa Hanka

The room was tiny, though the location was good, close to the center but still away from the noise. The mattress was OK, but the pillows were horrible. The toilet’s larger flush button didn’t work, so I had to flush several times. The room smelled strongly of washing powder or some other cleaning chemical. There was also a smoking smell, and staff had to clean the room for it. I had to keep the windows open just to stay in there. On the first night, sleep was impossible because of a noise from the house that kept repeating every 10-15 seconds. I couldn’t work out where it came from. I recorded it from my bathroom for a hotel worker, but they didn’t understand what it was. Maybe a water pump or something. After breakfast, the noise stopped. I bought earplugs. This whole area has an annoying siren they use to call volunteers during emergencies. It went off a few times in the day and once at night. It makes you think there’s an evacuation because a nuclear attack is imminent or Godzilla is coming to destroy the place. Almost nobody speaks English, either. And don’t get me started on the hotel canteen. One morning I gave up, since people were taking food to their rooms because there wasn’t enough space in the canteen. I won’t travel in summer again. Too many people everywhere.
