Hotel Nicolaus

The bed was large and comfortable, though it felt a little odd sitting right on the floor. There was a good bathroom with a spacious shower. The hotel is lovely and right in the heart of Toruń’s old town. Staff were nice and accommodating, if a bit inexperienced. A few small things were irritating, like finding four bottles of conditioner but no shampoo.

The location is amazing, just around the corner from Copernicus house and very close to the market. The building is beautifully renovated, with a lovely staircase and a rooftop terrace where you can watch the sunset. Staff were friendly and attentive. There are about eight hotel parking spaces on the street outside, for an extra fee. My room was small but fine for a few days. It didn’t have a bathroom door, which was unusual. For a longer stay, I’d definitely ask to move.

From my window I could see Copernicus’s house, and the city center is only a minute away. The rooms are cozy and the hotel is right in the old town.

The location is fantastic, and for a one-night visit it might make the stay worthwhile. The rooms were okay and the shower pressure was great, but the motion detector kept switching off and leaving us in the dark. There weren’t many outlets, and towels were limited. Breakfast had very little choice and seemed thrown together. The service was cold, rude, and inattentive. The people working there gave the impression they had no interest in hospitality. I wouldn’t recommend it to a friend.
