Zamek Uniejów

We stayed for a wedding, and the venue was lovely, with a terrace. Inside was clean and tidy. I think it usually operates as a restaurant. A modern block beside it has the reception and pizzeria, which also serves as the breakfast venue. The buffet was generous, with hot sausages and scrambled eggs, plus fruit, yoghurt, cereal, cheese, and crackers. It set us up well for the day. We stayed in the roof area near the old tower, where lots of jackdaws or crows live. They can be noisy early in the morning, but we didn't find them too bad. There was no traffic noise, which was better, and the window had mesh so we could leave it open without birds getting in. The staff were lovely and friendly, and some of the younger ones spoke very good English. I only know a few words of Polish, but we managed fine. There's a water park outside the castle gates if that's your thing.

The rooms are small but cozy, and the staff are very friendly. Breakfast was very good too. It's a beautiful building with lovely surroundings, and a nice place to stay if you enjoy a bit of history. You can't expect lifts or AC in a building like this. I recommend it to everyone.

The smaller rooms were elegant, cozy, and clean, and there’s a very good international restaurant, “Herbowa,” in the same building. We rented every room for our wedding, including the historical apartments, which are huge and full of atmosphere. They felt completely unique, and were good value compared with four- and five-star hotels of a similar standard.

You can get a guide, and ours was really passionate about the place. The castle sits by the river with a park around it, and the view from the tower is amazing, stretching from the city over the river to nearby villages. It’s a beautiful spot, and if you get bored, there’s an aquapark right next door.
