Guest House Villa Arkadia

I paid for a room at Villa Arkadia Guest House and was shown the one I’d booked before leaving for work. When I came back that evening, I found out it had been given to someone else. They said they assumed I wasn’t returning because they hadn’t seen or heard from me, even though I’d paid and been shown the room. They had my contact details and could have called. I don’t think my reservation should have depended on whether they saw me again. The other guest was Ukrainian too. Rather than put things right fairly, they offered me a poorly maintained room that smelled bad, saying it was the only one available unless I paid extra for a better one. I wondered why that room, or the more expensive one, wasn’t offered to the person who got my booking. I was the paying guest, yet it felt like I was being treated as if I had fewer rights. The whole thing felt discriminatory. Being treated unfairly in Poland by someone who should understand what it’s like to be in a foreign country, simply because I’m a different nationality, was deeply painful. The favoritism and disrespect felt out of place in hospitality, and I wouldn’t recommend this guest house, especially to anyone who isn’t Ukrainian. Fairness and professionalism didn’t feel guaranteed. This was a deeply disappointing experience, and I never want to repeat it. Villa Arkadia failed at the basic responsibility of respecting guests and honoring its commitments. It was a clear service failure and a poor reflection on hospitality standards. I hope this feedback leads to real improvement.

The owners were friendly, and the rooms were clean and spacious, with comfortable beds. It’s a small family-run place with shared bathrooms and a kitchen, and towels are provided. We were a family of five and had a double bedroom, which worked well for us. There’s free parking on the street, and the location is good, about a 40-minute trip to downtown by public transport. The perfume in the room was much too strong for us. We had to open the window to air it out.

We slept well: the bed was comfortable, the heating worked great, and the other guests were quiet. The bathroom was shared, but very clean and well cared for. The room itself was tiny, though, and we’d chosen Villa Arkadia because we needed a cheap overnight stay in Ursynow while in Warsaw on personal business. At the very low price, we got what we paid for and a little more. The receptionist spoke decent English and fluent Russian. The place is listed as pet-friendly, but there’s a 40 PLN fee, around 8 EUR, payable in cash at reception. For a very modest price and just a bed and cabinet, Villa Arkadia should do the job. If you’re staying longer or expect more from the room, I’d look elsewhere.

The bed was very comfortable, and the shared bathroom was luxurious, used by three or four rooms. My room was small and faced the road. Trees stand between the villa and the road, but I could still hear the cars.
