Hostel Kapsul

The capsules are comfortable, the staff are friendly and everything is clean. It’s a great base for exploring the city, with most places easy to reach on foot. I liked my stay and would recommend it if you’re trying to save money for a few days in Warsaw.

It’s in a pretty good location, and the hostel was mostly clean. The beds were comfy, though you’ll need to ask for an extra pillow. The showers were only lukewarm and not very good, maybe it depends on when you use them or which shower you get. It didn’t feel social at all, so I wouldn’t choose it if you’re hoping to meet people. One random thing, the plugs in the capsules are awkwardly placed. A big plug or adapter might not fit, so you could have trouble charging your stuff.

The sleeping area has a 24/7 quiet policy, which is nice if you don’t want drunk people partying or making a lot of noise. For a hostel, it’s one of the better options for privacy, decent bedding and quiet. I can see the capsule setup becoming my usual choice for future hostel trips. Towels can be rented and soap is available to buy. You have to follow the strict no-shoes policy, which makes sense, but going in and out depends on the receptionist. That can be annoying if they’re making rounds and take about ten minutes to come back. Kitchen utensils are limited, though there’s enough for very basic food prep with the microwave and water cooker. The capsule opens with a remote and feels sturdy and secure, but it makes a lot of noise and can wake people up at night. The showers are clean and the staff are friendly enough, but the water wasn’t as hot as I’d like. It’s warm enough to avoid a cold shower, just not warm enough to really enjoy it.

Even with almost 130 capsules on the floor, this place is well organized and each capsule feels private. Mine had an air vent, two European style outlets, a little corner shelf and wall netting for storing things. There’s also a large locker for your belongings, though you can leave things in the capsule, which opens and closes easily with a remote controlled roll-up door. The individual shower stalls are roomy and one floor down. I especially liked the bathroom setup: four hooks in each bathroom, plus a wall-mounted shower caddy with two shelves, so there’s room for your toiletries, pajamas and clothes. Men’s and women’s toilets are separate. You have to pay for body wash and a towel, which would normally cost it a star, but all those hooks in the showers won me over. They’ll also do your laundry overnight for 27PLN.
