I wouldn’t recommend this place. The hostel was in what looked like an abandoned flat, and the inside walls were covered in graffiti. The reception was on the fifth floor, with no elevator. I stayed in a private double room in November 2013, and there was no heating. Luckily, I had a sleeping bag to use as a second blanket. My room was downstairs from reception, and the Wi-Fi barely worked, if at all. The place didn’t feel very safe to me.

I stayed for three days, and really should have taken the state of this place as a warning and left. The accommodation was poor, the rooms and bathrooms were dirty, there was no quiet, and the staff seemed strange. After 14:00 the whole hostel smelled like burgers from the bar downstairs. Even though I booked the most expensive accommodation, they put me in an awful room with used, dirty bedding. An hour before checkout, knocking woke me up. A staff member came into my room with another strange person, shouting that I’d been smoking and had to pay 200 zł under their rules, even though the room cost 120. Nobody had smoked in the room, and I told them I wouldn’t give them a penny. He grabbed one of my bags and ran out, shouting that he’d hold my things until I paid. They returned my belongings some time later, but two pendrives and Sony smart tags were missing. A few times when I returned to my room, it looked like someone had been touching my things. My headphones went missing, but the bedding hadn’t been changed and the room hadn’t been cleaned while I was out. It was a strange, dirty place where you can lose things even in a one-person room. Some of the staff also seemed very odd. In Polish, I warn people about this hostel. It’s dirty and chaotic. They tried to get 200 zł from me by claiming I’d smoked in my single room, and the staff stole two pendrives and Sony smart tags from my Xperia. Stay well away!

On the top floor of an old-fashioned building, this place felt tidy and had a nice atmosphere. It’s well placed for sightseeing and going out at night.

The biggest issue for me would be staying here in colder weather, since there’s no central heating. They’d put a portable heater in the bathroom, but the rooms still seem likely to be uncomfortable in fall and winter. The hostel is on the fifth floor, and while I didn’t notice the smell inside, the stairwell reeked of oil from the bar downstairs. Beer bottles and cigarette ends around the stairs didn’t make the place inviting, and quiet hours weren’t really enforced. If you’re after a cheap bed, it may work, but bring another sleeping bag or be a heavy sleeper. There are some good points too. It’s fairly inexpensive and right in the city center, close to restaurants, bars, a bus stop, and the metro. I found the bathrooms and my room clean, and I was able to book less than five days before arriving, which was handy. The staff were decent as well.
