Safestay Warsaw Old Town

Great location, safe and clean, and good value for money. I had a mostly positive stay, though a change to the fridge policy made things less convenient. Back in December 2024, guests could keep food in the shared kitchen fridge for free. Now they charge 15 zł just to use it, even if you don’t cook, which feels expensive for basic storage. The two-person rooms don’t have their own fridge either, so on a longer stay there’s nowhere to keep drinks or yogurt fresh unless you pay extra. My relatives from Norway stayed for a couple of days. I think fridge access is a basic need, especially for longer visits, and the policy should be reconsidered. The receptionist, a man, was helpful and accommodating. We visited on March 16.

The location was spot on, and my first-ever hostel stay turned out to be a pleasant one. The beds were comfortable, and both the rooms and toilets were clean. Staff were lovely, especially the Polish woman at reception and the Turkish man, who were so welcoming. Only small annoyance was the bathroom lights switching off now and then, lol, but it was manageable.

The bus stop right outside is handy, and the 175 goes to Warsaw-Chopin International Airport. The laundry service was pretty good too. Location was the best part for me. The rooms were alright, though the mattresses felt a bit too small. Bathrooms were sometimes clean and sometimes less so, and the showers felt cramped and uncomfortable. The kitchen wasn't very well equipped and could get quite dirty.

The place looked poorer and dirtier than the photos, though I hadn't expected much since it's a hostel. The service was the bigger problem. I booked a mixed dorm for myself and my 17-year-old son, then was told they couldn't host him because he wasn't 18. They blamed me for not reading the terms and refused to refund me. They kept pushing us to pay for a private room, which I wouldn't do. All I got was “it is not possible, we can not, there is no manager, you can complain over the email.” It felt toxic and arrogant, like they were taking money from people. Stay Safe hostel might suit someone looking for that kind of service. I hope the money helps them with their miserable lives.
