For around €20 a night, and sometimes less, a single room here feels almost like a palace. After a long day walking, I especially liked relaxing in the armchairs. The rooms aren’t spotless and gleaming, and there are signs of wear, but they’re still passable. It’s an eight-story building full of international backpackers, with a good location for both transfers and seeing Warsaw. Several major sights and museums are 10-15 minutes away. The hostel is cheap, and the people are nice. Staff are helpful and speak several languages. The basics generally work reliably, including kitchens, Wi-Fi routers, and a lobby coffee machine. As hostels go, it’s not bad, though it’s not amazingly good either.

We booked this hostel for two nights and left first thing in the morning. We’d arrived late in Warsaw, so we hadn’t left earlier. The building seemed like it might once have been a student dormitory, but the old structure and interior weren’t what bothered me. The place looked like it had never been cleaned. There were strange stains on the floor and blood drops on the bed. The toilet and sink were filthy, and the shower curtain felt like a germ paradise. I was disgusted taking a shower. What struck me most, beyond how awful the stay was, was the owner’s comment below threatening a customer to send pictures of the toilet she’d used. Please avoid this place.

We had to stay the first night because we arrived just before check-in closed at 23:00, but we got out early the next morning and found a nice place through Airbnb. I still can’t imagine that a place like this exists. The check-in staff were horrible, grumpy older men who couldn’t speak English. They smoked inside a small room, which was disgusting. The elevator was scary, with no inner doors, so you could watch the floors go by, and it smelled awful. After a long trip, we found a stained carpet, terrible smell, and switches that looked like they belonged in a museum. The bathroom was a disaster. The filthy curtain, sink, and toilet were frightening to use. The beds and sheets smelled as if they hadn’t been cleaned in ages, and the beds were very uncomfortable. The worst place I’ve ever been. Do not book it, even if it’s the cheapest and closest to the center.

The building has a Soviet-style feel and its own atmosphere, and I liked it overall. It’s well located, near the center and surrounded by parks. If you plan to cook for yourself, the kitchen may disappoint. But if you’re going to eat out all the time, you should be fine.

I spent four months here, and it wasn’t a good fit for a long stay. The one good thing is how close the hostel is to the city center, though you can find other Warsaw options for about the same price. The dark-haired receptionist was the rudest person I’ve met. She’d roll her eyes and rudely say no to everything I asked. Cleaning costs 50 zloty, or you have to do it yourself with a vacuum that barely picks anything up. The kitchen is a disaster too, and since not everyone cleans, having it cleaned once a week isn’t enough. A club next door makes sleeping impossible on Friday and Saturday nights, and sometimes there are weekend parties too. I know that part isn’t their fault. There’s only one washing machine in the whole big hostel, so doing laundry can be impossible sometimes. It costs 7 zloty, 5 for washing and 2 for drying. The internet is fast, but a password only lets you register two devices, even if you share a room with one other person. Another device costs 30 zloty. The furniture is from the 1990s.
