WARMHOUSE

Out back, there’s a regular “shopping hole” selling stolen goods, mostly car tires taken from underground garages in nearby housing estates. The accommodation isn’t cheap, and it seems aimed at less affluent visitors from the East, who apparently don’t mind squeezing into cramped, ratty rooms.

Everything was clean and tidy throughout the hostel, and the administrator was polite. The room, though, was unbearably hot and stuffy, and the fan did nothing to help. I had to leave the door open overnight, but people in the hallway could see how everyone was sleeping, so I had to sleep in pants and a T-shirt. The lack of air made me cough all night and kept the others awake 😫.

The photos make the hostel look much better than it is. I knew it was cheap and didn't expect anything amazing, but the dirty rooms, bad smell, hard-to-communicate-with staff, and general atmosphere made the stay unpleasant. I wouldn't recommend it.

The staff were helpful and happy to have a chat. It's an affordable place that works for a quick stopover or a longer stay.
