Hotel Solny

We were really happy with our overnight stay and loved the buffet in the morning. The rooms are plain, but they worked fine for sleeping and showering, which was all we had time for. Good value and a great breakfast.

The self-service setup made things really easy, and the rooms were just right for us. The location worked perfectly too.

The famous salt mine nearby is the hotel's one real advantage. The price isn't the lowest, and after our stay I'd sooner choose one of the other places around here. I rarely give one star, but I can't rate this higher. Where to begin? Parking is scarce, with only space for two cars in a line, so you can end up blocking someone or being blocked in. The online photos don't always match the room. If you're unlucky, you'll get a basement room facing the pavement, where everyone coming in or out can see you. The reception wasn't much help and stuck to its version of things. Our room wasn't clean and was very sparsely equipped. Much of the furniture and equipment was broken, and the wardrobe couldn't be used because the stairs blocked its doors, as shown in the photos. The temperature control made an irritating noise all night, making it hard to fall asleep. The room just wasn't worth what we paid. Breakfast was mediocre and limited, so don't expect much. It's enough if you're hungry, but I've had a better selection at almost every hotel I've stayed in.

The bathroom was fine, though the soap was odd but acceptable. The internet was pretty good too, and those were about the only positives. We were put in a basement room, and I have no idea what the upstairs rooms are like. The pictures make the rooms look much better than they are. The room was ridiculously tiny, with furniture placed in strange spots, including a mirror beside the stairs. Service was just okay, regular hotel service, but I didn't see how they cleaned those microscopic rooms. The outlets were oddly positioned too. Instead of one by the two beds, there was one behind the door, as far from my bed as possible. The pictures on the walls were ordinary photo prints with weird pink clouds and balloons added. It looked like a cheap editing job, and the pink didn't go with the images. The windows were awful and barely opened, creaked, and need repairs and new blinds. The hallway light stayed on or came back on by itself. At this rate, the energy costs must be through the roof.
