Hotel Pekin

Terrible owners.

The restaurant next door served food that seemed reheated, and the pool didn't look as though it was cleaned regularly. Some rooms smell damp, and the gym is in very poor shape. I also found the work environment difficult, and management left me with a negative impression. I wouldn't recommend staying at this hotel. A very disappointing experience.

The location is okay, and the decor is quite original, but that doesn't make up for the rest. The windows leak, so on windy days you can feel the wind coming into the room. The service didn't leave a good impression, and the pool and sauna are a disaster. The breakfasts are really poor, worse than what you get at guesthouses. As someone else noted, the hotel's best days seem to be behind it. The owner doesn't seem to care about guests and should be ashamed. For this price, it's a poor hotel, and I wouldn't recommend it.

We keep coming back off-season, when the prices are lower. They can get very high during the season. The location is fantastic, and the hotel has interesting decor, though not much seems to have changed lately despite the renovations. Once we were given a room so dusty that I started sneezing, even though I don't have allergies. The pool and sauna are tiny, but they have a lot of atmosphere, and we were alone there 99% of the time. The owner was very friendly and gave the children sweets from... Beijing.
