Hotel ZOO

Breakfast was very good, and the location is handy for the zoo. The rooms were clean and neat, though they seemed to get cleaned only lightly. There was a kettle but no water, tea, or coffee in the room, which was a big minus. Still, not bad.

This was my third stay, and my last. I deleted my earlier review after coming back twice, but the poor customer care I noticed at Christmas 2024 was still there when I stayed in August. Maybe management has changed. Staff either seem untrained for front of house or are told to ignore paying guests and make their stay uncomfortable. When we asked about parking, we were told none was available and to come back the next day at 13:45. We asked to be put down for a space then, but that wasn’t possible. About 15 minutes later, while we were reporting that the internet in our room wasn’t working, I heard a couple checking in and being offered parking. In fact, two spaces had apparently opened up. Lying to a paying customer is shamefully unacceptable. There was no tea or coffee in the room, just cups and a kettle. There are better hotels for less. Such a change from our first visit.

The hotel looks nice, has style, and is conveniently located. That’s about it. It felt more like a hostel than a hotel. We stayed five nights and nobody came to clean or even take out the rubbish. Apparently, we could have paid extra for that. 🤣 There was no parking when we arrived. They offered a spot 500m away, or told us to come to the desk the next day at 12:45 and buy one after someone checked out. We couldn’t buy parking for the remaining days at the time. When we were about to change hotels, two spaces suddenly appeared and were going to be offered to other guests. We stayed after managing to get one. The internet didn’t work either. We reported it the next morning and were asked to leave the room open for an engineer while we were out. One of our keys stopped working that day too, though they fixed it right away. Everything went wrong, and we won’t stay here again. Staff hardly ever recognize guests, barely answer a simple hello, and avoid eye contact. What we don’t see, apparently isn’t there.

The location is really good, with a tram stop 300 meters away and just five stops to the city center. The price is reasonable, the staff were very friendly, and the rooms were clean and cozy. We loved the restaurant, too. It blew our minds. 100% recommend.
