Highlander Heart Residence

We had a really good stay. The room was clean, tidy, modern, and in good shape, with a warm traditional feel and lots of carved wood. The sheets and covers smelled fresh, the towels were clean, a decent size, and nice to use. There were blinds and curtains to block the morning light, the temperature felt just right, and the TV was big enough for me to watch Netflix. Breakfast was very good and changed daily. Staff were friendly and helpful, and it was nice to be able to leave through the back garden. The nearby hills and mountains make for beautiful views and a pleasant little hike. By car, the centre is about 5 minutes away, or a 40-minute walk. The place is at the end of a cul-de-sac, so there's no passing traffic or noisy drunk pedestrians. Parking could be a little tricky if you get back late, but we managed with a small car. Some of the complaints I've read didn't match our experience: the mattress wasn't extremely soft, and both of us slept well, even though my partner hates soft mattresses. We don't know if it has been replaced since those reviews, but we didn't think it was bad or that the bed was too small. There was shower gel, shampoo, and liquid soap in bathroom dispensers, and they were good quality. There was also a bath mat for stepping out of the shower. The serious problem was the bedding itself. Although the sheets and covers were clean, the pillows and duvets can't be washed and smelled strongly of people with poor personal hygiene who had slept in them before. It was disgusting. I have a sensitive nose and had to sleep on a sofa cushion instead. I recommend the owners switch to washable bedding and clean it regularly.
