For hiking, the location works really well, with a bus stop and local grocery store close by. I enjoyed my stay and would recommend the cottage for a quiet, relaxing break in Zakopane. The rooms were nice and the beds comfortable. I did miss having a closet for suitcases, and a washing machine would be useful for a longer visit. The bathroom itself was adequate.

The clean bedding was the one thing I could praise. The room was cold at first, though the owner started heating it right after we complained. At 150 PLN per person, the conditions were very poor: everything creaked, it was dirty, the furniture couldn’t be used, and the room felt like a cubicle. The photos show a dirty stool that made everything stick and a rusty radiator stained with some kind of liquid. It was a disaster. One star is already too much. I don’t recommend this place!!!

The neighborhood was quiet, but I’d pay a little more to stay somewhere better. The rooms smelled of mold, and the owner was vulgar and arrogant. When we reported that the kettle didn’t work, she ignored us and didn’t replace it during our stay. We also found mold on the mattress we were sleeping on. When we brought that up, she told us to “Fuck off” and shut up. A place depends on having a friendly owner, and unfortunately she missed her calling. I’ll never recommend this place to anyone.

We started the trip by having to fight for what we had paid for. The Booking.com offer clearly listed and included breakfast, but it turned out there was no way to get any meals. The room photos also didn’t match the reservation, and the promised mountain view was apparently a view of a parking area that only fits two cars. The owner doesn’t see a problem. The offer doesn’t match reality.

The owner ignored our requests for help and wasn’t willing to talk things through. The apartment, called Arkada, didn’t feel like an apartment at all. There were only two rolls of toilet paper for two nights, a musty smell everywhere, and low ceilings that are a real problem for taller people. It was freezing throughout. The shower wasn’t ready when we arrived: the drain was clogged, and after showering we had to wait a long time for the water to go down. Booking.com said there was Wi-Fi, but that wasn’t true. I wouldn’t have gone there even for free. It would have been different if the owner had shown a little interest in us and some humility.
