Hotel Zamojski

The location is the one thing this hotel has going for it. The furniture is outdated, and the carpets are so old I remember them from 20 years ago, when I worked as a student. There was dust, cobwebs, and holes in the wall left after repairs. Breakfast was so poor we lost our appetite. This used to be one of the best places in town, but now it’s a shadow of itself. I wouldn’t recommend it. I’d rather pay a few quid extra for a taxi to the Old Market and stay somewhere better.

The beds were very comfortable, and the staff were lovely and helpful. It’s a good standard hotel, with SPA facilities in the same building and classical styling throughout, including the furniture. The Wi-Fi was the one drawback, with very poor coverage in our room, at least.

The location is phenomenal, but calling this a “Four Star Hotel” is a bad joke. There’s no A/C. Two receptionists gave us different explanations: “the system is down” and “this is a historic building and we were not allowed to install A/C.” The workmanship is shabby. Any repairs look rushed, with paint over door frames and pieces of baseboard missing. The room was dirty, too. Housekeeping should mean more than fresh linens: the carpet looked like it hadn’t been vacuumed in weeks, with dirt in the corners, and the desk under the TV stand was dirty. Stay somewhere else.

The service at the ancient hotel Zamoyski was excellent, and the staff were great. You can explore the Old Town on foot, including the underground tunnels, Jewish Quarter, Rosa Luxemburg and Gestapo Headquarters, and discover the area’s secret history.
