The beds need replacing. Our double room had two single beds, and they felt flimsy and cheap, as if they might break if you sat down too hard. Maybe fine for a small teenager, but not for an adult. We stayed several days and our room wasn’t cleaned once. The location is convenient when I visit Żyrardów, my hometown, and the historic property itself is well worth seeing. Santago Water Park and Spa is only a short drive away. Given the rates, which are higher than Radisson Blu Sobieski in Warsaw or about the same as Marriott, there’s a lot to improve, including daily room service. It’s a shame a place in such a setting doesn’t pay closer attention to the details.

Breakfast was decent if you’re happy with sandwiches, but it seemed set up for no more than six people. Food and drinks disappeared as soon as they were put out, and people rushed for whatever was left. It was an unpleasant sight. Some guests didn’t get coffee, and the coffee itself was poor, instant powder stirred into warm water. The room was small, with damaged panels and a bathroom shelf tilted at about 60 degrees, so things slid off. Instead of a double bed there were two singles. The only window looked diagonally upward at the top of a taller neighboring building. The TV was small and the picture was bad.

The location is very good, the exterior is lovely, and breakfast was great. But there’s no air conditioning, even though it was 44°C in the sun on August 5, and the room wasn’t cleaned daily. Service was mediocre at best. Even the VIP room was really small. I’d have felt very uncomfortable there with anyone other than close family. The furniture felt like it came from a recession, and the bed gave me neck pain, though I’m not usually sensitive to that. A real disappointment.

Seeing the old factory buildings was a surprisingly good experience. It was once Europe’s largest linen factory, and the preserved structure and decor, along with photos of the factory in operation, are impressive.
