Grateful Souls Hostel

The backyard is the beach, so you couldn’t ask for a better location on the island’s west end. Sara and Hector were very friendly hosts. We really enjoyed our stay, and this is one of the nicest hostels I’ve been to. Be sure to check it out if you’re in the area.

Sara, the owner, was lovely and makes great coffee. You can also make waffles yourself each day if you like. There’s a nice ocean view. Since I’m a bit older and there are a lot of young people there, I’d recommend choosing a private room.

Sara was a friendly, helpful host who shared lots of useful information. The big, beautiful house is literally on the beach, and I had the best time at Grateful Souls meeting guests from around the world. After staying here, I can’t imagine choosing a stuffy high-rise hotel in Puerto Rico. This is definitely the way to go. ¡Muchas Gracias!

AKA Casa De Caracoles. I felt dirty there, and the host, Sara, was unfriendly and never showed up. This isn’t a house, it’s a hostel, and it didn’t feel kid-friendly. It’s right on the beach, but the beach was filthy and covered in garbage, and the water was murky enough that you wouldn’t want to swim. There were no waves for surfing. Upstairs, the bathroom made weird noises, the sink was broken, and the knobs were nearly falling off. I’ll never go anywhere in this area again. Aguada isn’t a nice area for travelers.
