Casa de Playa A-1

I loved this place. It’s spacious, clean, and private, with the beach just a few steps away and everything close by. It looks even better in person than it does in the pictures.

My mother, grandmother, and cousin booked this rental for 18 days last year, but they left after just two because it was infested with bugs. It smelled bad, the bathroom was dirty, and so were the towels and linens. My mother tried washing the sheets so she could sleep, but the washer was full of dead roaches. She contacted the manager and asked for a refund because of the awful condition. He asked how soon she could leave so he could rent it to someone else, and said he’d refund her. Later he refused and charged her for all 18 days. My mom was robbed and mistreated. Don’t trust these people.

This place ruined my vacation. It was filthy and overpriced, with false advertising and lying reviews. The coffee maker was a dirty espresso machine, and the washer and dryer didn’t work, though they would have cost extra if they had. The owner couldn’t be reached. There was also an overpowering smell from a cemetery right next door, where apparently graves had been unearthed. The linens were dirty, the refrigerator leaked, and something else was leaking in the first bedroom. Noise was a problem too: the place is near several bars, and on my last night neighbors talked loudly right outside that bedroom window until 1 a.m. I had to get up at 3 a.m. for the SJU airport. There was no parking except on the street, where my rental car was hit in a hit-and-run, most likely by a drunk person from the local bars. I reported it to the local police up the street and my insurance company. Crossing the street was difficult, and nearby parking was hard to find. I wouldn’t recommend it.
