Villa Montana Beach Resort

The reception staff was exceptional, but the restaurant team wasn't. We asked for beach chairs and waited an hour. Two beers cost us $20+, yet we had to queue at the bar and carry the cups to the beach ourselves. At that price, I expected them to bring the drinks right to my chair. We'd expected more for the price. Our room had a comfortable bed, lots of space, and a lovely balcony with a nice view, but it was dated. There weren't enough outlets to charge our phones, the toilet tank was extremely noisy, the bathtub drained poorly, and there was black mold in one corner. This place is overpriced for what it offers.

The location is pretty, secluded, and nice, but the beach isn't great for swimming or surfing. It has lots of rocks and wind, so it's better for wind water sports. There was also lots of dog shit around the property. The walls are paper thin. We could hear everything our neighbors said and woke up to them talking about what they wanted for breakfast. The rooms were dated, dirty, and in need of renovation. Staff were nice, but service was mid. We asked months ahead whether there would be a washer/dryer in the room and never got a clear answer. There wasn't one when we arrived, and there's no room service. The restaurant was mid and a bit pricey.

We had a great time and loved the beautiful views and friendly staff. The power went out during our stay, but the team did everything they could to fix it and keep guests having a good experience. They handled the inconvenience with understanding and issued refunds promptly. Highly recommend villa Montana, it's beautiful.

We spent the day out because staying there wasn't pleasant. The hotel costs too much for what it offers, especially when there's no automatic room service, which is crazy for a place claiming to be 4 stars. There aren't lights around the hotel apart from the ones in the rooms, so it was dark walking to the restaurant, beach, or your room. You need a flashlight. Our five days in a queen room with Terrance/garden view were awful, nothing like the website pictures. The pool was dirty and only open until 6. The beds and outdoor furniture were old, dirty, and unkempt. The restaurant food and drinks were awful, though its staff were great. A red snapper, pork can can, a pina colada, and a mojita came to $200, ridiculously high. Lolas bar at the entrance of the villa was great, as were Jabos beach kiosk, Kai bar, and Pilao. Highly recommended.
