Parador Boquemar

I came for my sister’s funeral, and Damaris at the front desk made us feel at home. She was wonderful. It’s only a five-minute walk to one of the most beautiful beaches. I’ll return for a vacation next time.

I felt almost imprisoned, considering what we paid. I had been warned that the restaurant and pagonand weren’t in use, hurricane or not, but why couldn’t they afford a generator, cable, or pictures? We asked for fresh towels before leaving. If you go in to clean, make sure there’s toilet paper and clean towels. There was no Wi-Fi or signal, so I couldn’t take pictures of the place. I feel bad for the people who work there.

The staff were incredible and friendly, and did their best to help. Rooms with a bay view are limited, but have a wonderful view day or night. The pool was maintained, though leaves from the nearby tree fall into it. I think they cleaned it before the weekend. The building is old but renovated, with basic yet comfortable rooms. My room had a small bathroom, but the hot shower and sink worked, which was a plus. The location is right at Poblado de Boqueron, about 100 steps from the main road with the nightlife and food. I didn’t get to try the restaurant, though it seemed to have plenty of customers on the weekend. I only saw a stairway and a steep spiral walkway, so it would be difficult to get around in a wheelchair. I assume guests with mobility needs would take a first-floor room.

I have fond memories of this place from a long time ago, and the location is excellent. The staff were friendly. It’s sad the restaurant isn’t operating anymore, and the hotel could use a little TLC. The pool was in bad shape.
