Aquarius Vacation Club at Dorado del Mar

The place was clean and the pool was nice, but the staff were rude. There's no breakfast. If you're paying with a Discover card, be careful: they took the booking payment, but wouldn't accept Discover for the room deposit. They wouldn't take cash either, so when you have no other option, you're stuck. We'll take cash out.

We were here for a few nights and couldn't make much use of the amenities since we weren't on vacation, so we'll come back. The location is convenient and affordable, close to the beach, golf, shopping, dining, and main roads. The rooms are clean and set up well for longer stays. Some renovation seems to be underway, and the furniture could use an update, though it served its purpose. The air conditioner was noisy but worked well. Amenities and service were great.

The last night here, I feel sick to my stomach thinking about how rude the staff have been. I felt like a burden instead of a guest, and the experience has put me off ever coming back. We had to get a ticket validated each time we left for a tour or excursion. Nobody explained that we needed to keep the same ticket for the whole stay. On our final day, a staff member questioned where it was, then abruptly told us to keep the same receipt ticket and not lose it. I felt as though we'd done something wrong, even though no one had clearly told us this before. The front desk young man also failed to explain how the property worked or share useful information unless we asked questions. The whole experience was awful.

We had a weather advisory that affected our flights and provided proof, but the hotel wouldn't move our stay to another date even though a room was available. After repeated calls, emails, and messages through the site, neither we nor Expedia could reach the reservation desk or a manager. There were also extra charges disclosed only afterward, including the resort fee, daily parking, and an additional deposit. The basic customer service was lacking. Save your money, I wouldn't recommend it.
