Moonlight Bay Hostel

We really liked the atmosphere at this relaxed guest house, with bunk beds and private rooms, just five minutes from the ferry. The room felt a bit expensive for the comfort and service, though, and they charge $10 for arriving after 11 p.m.

We stayed twice, first in a private room and then in a six-bed mixed dorm. The beds were sturdy and nice both times, and the hostel had a friendly feel. It’s a five-minute walk to the ferry. They also offer free WiFi and a free pancake breakfast you make yourself. We’d definitely stay again.

The facility was fairly clean and the beds were comfortable, but the bunks were three levels high, which made getting in and out difficult. At one point an employee locked everything up and left without a word. They were gone for over half an hour, and there wasn’t a phone number to call.

It was clean and comfortable, and in 2015 the price worked for me. The main reason to stay here is how close it is to the boat to the islands, about [unclear] minutes on foot. There isn't a market nearby, just a bar with bread and a few small things, so shop before you arrive if you'll need groceries. You really need a car to do anything else around here.
