The Perch Hotel

For under $100 a night, the rate was inexpensive, though you get what you pay for. Parking was across the street in a public lot. The place is two blocks from the beach, where there are beach bars and light food options, but you'll need a car for a nice restaurant or even breakfast. This is an Airbnb, not a hotel, with no reception and no staff around except housekeeping. My room wasn't cleaned while I was there. The rooms are upstairs, and there's a nice covered open-air spot to eat, have a drink, or meet people. My room was small, and the hot water didn't respond.

The beach is a two-minute walk away, with live music and a restaurant across the street. The two people who checked us in were super friendly, and our room was nice and clean. There's lots to do nearby. I've been traveling more lately and leaving fancy resorts behind, and I'd book this again if we make it back this way. Robert and Dorka.

Maureen, the co-host, greeted us so warmly. Our room was a pleasant surprise, nice and homey, with a microwave oven, refrigerator, and cool inverter AC unit. The beach is one block away, and we couldn't hear the music and singing from the bars and restaurants a block away because the window was soundproof. Highly recommend, and we'd return. Thanks to our hosts!

Expedia messed up our reservation, so I can't say much about the place itself. The location is lovely, though, and the staff followed up right on point. We'll give it a try next time we go.
