For what I paid for two nights and three days, this place was outrageous. The room was very old, like something from the 1980s, and cheaply furnished. It didn’t even have hand soap, a microwave, a bedroom garbage can, or a coffee maker. An employee told me the building I stayed in was the oldest in the area, and that there’s a newer building on the property. They need to do better for the price they charge.

The restaurant was spectacular, and Primitivo was the best anfitrión they had. But the rooms and bathrooms are very small for the price. At the pool, you have to rent a tube, which should be included with the hotel price. I couldn’t get anything frozen at the pool bar, probably because the machine wasn’t working, and they didn’t have mint for mojitos.

The floors were fine and shiny, but the hotel needs renovation. The safe, key card, parking card, pillows, and bathroom fixtures all had problems, and the air conditioner was noisy. I’m not planning to return.

We stayed in the new Tower, in a modern room with queen beds. The front desk staff were very friendly and attentive, and the hotel has lots of amenities, including several pools, a water slide, lazy river, casino, spa, tennis courts, and more. The problem was that our room faced the main pool courtyard, where a private party played very loud music until around 10:30 PM. It was inconsiderate to guests trying to sleep, especially when the hotel has two assembly rooms. They should have warned us about the party or moved us to a room on the other side of the courtyard.

The pool was beautiful and the whole family enjoyed it, but one slide was closed, possibly because of the season. The elevator to the pool was broken, so a disabled guest couldn’t get there with their family. You also can’t take pool towels back to your room without risking a $25 charge for each one, so you have to drip-dry or carry bathroom towels down the stairs. A lazy-river tube costs another $5 per person. All those extra charges made it feel more like a public beach than a resort. Breakfast at El Castillo was good and fairly priced. The staff made fresh food and great coffee, with plenty of choices for picky kids, and I thanked them. The pool restaurant was worse: the fries with our burgers were stale, and I’d rather order Uber Eats. We also got one well-made old fashioned at the lobby wine bar for $18. We didn’t use the casino, but it looked well-appointed with plenty of games, and seemed like the most updated and well-staffed part of the hotel. Parking was a real hassle. There’s plenty of self-parking, but you take a ticket at the gate, then have to get it stamped in the lobby and stamped again by the valet before you can leave. You have to do that every time you come and go, adding about 10 minutes to each exit. If the valet wasn’t there, which happened often, security sent us through the entry gate to get out. The valet was also covering bellhop duties and was often away, especially at night. The hotel itself badly needs renovation and better management. The room was small, damp, and undecorated, and the bathroom was tiny and utilitarian. There was no hand soap or conditioner, only shower gel and lotion. The fridge and safe worked, but the coffee maker had no coffee, which cost extra, and wouldn’t take your own coffee because it needed a proprietary pod. The thin synthetic sheets and pillows felt military-grade; we asked for extras to sleep comfortably. The AC seemed to have just two settings, North Pole and off. The lobby still had plastic barriers on the counters, which didn’t feel welcoming in 2025. The hotel staff were nice and professional, but seemed underappreciated and poorly managed. I had to ask them personally for housekeeping. The rooms and facilities need serious upgrades. They should start by removing the useless plastic shields, fixing the unusable gym, and providing hand soap. It’s disgusting that soap wasn’t included. The hotel should invest in the property, not just the wine bar and casino, and give guests a reusable parking card so they don’t have to chase the two busiest staff members for stamps every time they leave. I don’t recommend staying here, though it may be fine if you’re just coming to gamble and drink.
