Acacia Boutique Hotel

The pool was a lovely surprise. My partner and I went around 7:30 p.m., and it was empty, warm, and beautiful. We could see some of the cute rooms overlooking it, including rooms with balconies. The photos on booking sites really don’t do the hotel justice. The location was fine for walking, and it was right by the beach. I’d booked a balcony room but was given a corner room on the first floor, where a wall blocked the window. I showed the woman at the desk my booking, so it was frustrating that I didn’t get the room I’d reserved. She was nice otherwise, and I don’t think it was her fault. The room was dirty, and the floor clearly hadn’t been cleaned in a while. The bathroom was okay, but there was no hot water. It was a decent stay, but I’m sure I’d have rated it higher if we’d gotten the room we booked.

The hotel’s breakfast is wonderful and only a little pricier than other spots, so I thought it was worth it. There are also several restaurants within five blocks, and Playa Papaya is an easy walk for breakfast. The place has loads of character, comfortable beds, and an excellent restaurant. It’s right on a nice beach. The heated sitting pool is pleasant but small, and there’s another small pool at the sister hotel. Old Town is about a 20-minute ride by Uber or taxi, with Uber costing less. A free bus goes there too, but you might wait an hour for it. The stop is on the first main street.

I stayed with my daughters in January 2026, and we’d gladly come back. The neighborhood felt safe, and restaurants are close by. The beach is about 20 feet away. The room was spacious and comfortable, and the staff were friendly and very helpful. Check in and check out were easy. The TV was the one snag. The internet was spotty, and staff did try to fix it. We also found the other guests friendly. There were far more positives than negatives, and we loved it.

The beach isn’t right beside the hotel, despite the way the oceanfront room was advertised. It’s walkable, but the property itself isn’t beachfront. We paid a fairly affordable rate, but had several problems during our four-night stay. The TV didn’t work, even after I asked staff for help, and we couldn’t connect to the room Wi-Fi. Housekeeping never came to clean or replace supplies, despite my specific request.
