At Wind Chimes Boutique Hotel

Samuel and Johanna made our stay and departure so smooth and relaxing. We really needed that help, and I’m very grateful. On our first night, an employee checked us in later than planned, then went out of his way to walk us to the sister hotel down the street. Its restaurant, Niche, had lovely service and really impressed us. We’d never been to San Juan before, and this charming hotel was such a wonderful place to land after our plans changed. It’s just a block from a beautiful beach with clear turquoise water, and has a lovely courtyard and pool. I connected right away with the lively feel of the place. Thank you. I truly hope to come back!

It was nice overall, and the location is very close to the beach, but there are maintenance issues throughout. The TV didn’t work, and the toilet only flushed if I lifted the tank lid and pulled the chain up by hand. The woman at the desk said that was how it worked and that fixing it wasn’t her job. The pillows were extremely hard, old, and lumpy. Overnight, a fight broke out in the lobby. We were concerned something might be happening, and I had trouble getting back to sleep.

I’ve stayed here three times with my children and used to think it was a wonderful place. But when my incoming flights were canceled, they wouldn’t accommodate me or refund the money, even though I’m a returning customer. I sent proof of everything, but they just declined the request. $646 went down the drain. They didn’t offer to let me rebook or give me credit. I’m very disappointed. Returning customers should feel welcome to come back, but unfortunately I won’t be returning. Money doesn’t equal customer appreciation.

My mother had booked this hotel so she could visit and meet her grandchildren. Just days before traveling, she was diagnosed with Stage 3 breast cancer and had to start treatment right away. The airline reviewed her doctor’s letter and promptly refunded her, but the hotel has kept her payment for over a year. They haven’t answered emails or returned calls. At one of the most devastating times in her life, they chose silence over compassion. If you support women facing cancer, think carefully about where you spend your money. Profit should never come before humanity.
