Esthelar Lodging

The location is A+, and I loved standing on the balcony watching people go by. The hotel is on 318 C. de la Fortaleza, about a 6 min walk straight to the area in front of the Governor's mansion, where the beautiful Puerto Rico flag is hanging. Casa Blanca hotel is right next door. There’s also a lovely courtyard for dining or enjoying the weather. This is a very basic place, fine for a night or two, and not for anyone looking for luxury. My room was spacious, air conditioned, with a mini fridge, huge closet, comfortable bed and pillows. It was very clean except for a slightly gritty floor. There were only two side tables, no chair, no other furniture or TV. Storage is limited to the closet, which has about a dz hangers, so longer stays mean living out of your suitcase. The shower pressure was Heaven, but there’s nowhere to set toiletries except the floor, and no soap dish for the bar soap. They provide basic soap, shampoo, and conditioner. There’s no elevator and it isn’t handicapped accessible. There’s no staff on site either, so check-in happens in the souvenir shop downstairs. Manager Veronica was EXTREMELY responsive and so so nice. Pricing was decent, though I booked the Romantic Room through Expedia for its Juliette Balcony facing de la Fortaleza, and at check-in was told the quoted rate was for a standard room. I could pay about $15 more or take the standard. I paid, but felt they should have honored the quoted price. I didn’t make a big stink, I’m on vacation.
