Hostel H1 Miramar

The rooms have comfortable beds and the A/C is very cold. If you like partying, drinking, and smoking pot until sunrise, you may have a good time here, as long as the staff are on your side. They can throw you out without a refund. I had a terrible impression of the staff at this hostel and its sister hostel, santruce. More than once, I overheard them speaking negatively about guests. The manager here really seems to think she's God's gift to the earth. Miramar is the better of the two. Stay at your own risk.

This hostel feels like a real family. As soon as you arrive, everyone welcomes you. They have family dinners most nights, and we all went to the beach and to Bonanza (Monday night) together. The workers are friendly and super helpful, especially Carlos. I absolutely recommend it to anyone looking for the best hostel experience on the island.

We lasted three hours before finding a nice hotel. If I could give this place zero stars, I would. The facilities were disgusting, and both bathrooms looked like they hadn't been cleaned in months. Cleanliness was awful, pandemic or not. The bunk beds looked and felt like the ones I slept on as a kid around 2003. Why haven't they upgraded them? There was no A/C anywhere in the building. The room photos they show are of private rooms, not the shared rooms for four to eight people. Never again. This ruined hostels for me. Very misleading. Do better.

Do not go here. When I walked into my room, a drunk older man was directing racial slurs at me. As a young woman, I found it frightening. I know that wasn't the hostel's fault, but they did nothing to help: they didn't remove him, say anything to him, or offer me another room. I was left choosing between risking my safety and leaving, and they didn't refund any of what I'd paid. The place also reeked of body odor. I've stayed in plenty of hostels, but I've never seen one so careless about safety, so dirty, and with such terrible customer service. I'd give it zero stars if I could.
