La Concha Resort, Puerto Rico, Autograph Collection

We were disappointed with this stay, especially as a frequent Marriott guest who's usually had positive visits elsewhere. The booking photos seemed to use a wide-angle lens and didn't show the room we got. It was a decent size, but felt like two standard rooms joined together instead of a well-renovated suite. There were two separate entry doors with different room numbers, and exterior doors that opened outside without a patio. The balcony was enclosed, blocked by the building, and had no view, so it was technically usable but pointless. The beach-facing windows were extremely dirty and limited the view further. We also heard significant noise from the resort side, and the property's cleanliness could be better. The location is walkable, but there wasn't much to do nearby unless you like very crowded places. The value didn't match the price. Next time, I'd pick a nearby Marriott property or stay in Old San Juan.

The location of LaConcha can't be beat, and we had an excellent stay. The updated suites were lovely, and dinner at Lavant was incredible. Mr Torres was also very helpful, and having Titanium breakfast every day was a plus. Great property and staff.

What made us feel most welcome was the staff. Many remembered our names and greeted us as they passed. The hardest choice each day was beach time or one of the three pools. My favorite was the heated infinity pool on the mezzanine level overlooking the beach, almost like a huge hot tub. It's a great resort right on Condado beach, and it checks every box for a beach vacation. A+

The cleaning was among the best I’ve experienced at a hotel. The staff did such a thorough job, and I hope they’re paid well for it. We’d booked another hotel first, but it was awful, with no running water for most of the day. I called at the last minute and they found us a room here. We’d stayed before and already knew how lovely the place and its amenities were. On our planned departure day, I came down with a stomach virus. My husband asked the staff if we could stay as late as possible, and that extra hour and a half really helped. I was sick from 9 until 12:30 and had a flight to catch, so being close to a bathroom while I figured out how to manage the trip made a big difference.
