Old San Juan Luxury Suites

The central, walkable Old San Juan location was great for our first visit, and the shared patio was nice. Our family of four had just enough space to sleep and get ready, and staff replied quickly by text. But the room had no windows, low ceilings that may feel claustrophobic, outdated furniture, and an old AC unit. The bed creaked whenever anyone moved. Towels smelled stale, like mildew, and the refrigerator looked extremely old and poorly cleaned. A broken bench had been covered with a blanket. We saw three small roaches: two in the refrigerator, one of which we killed before getting a photo, and another crawling up the wall. We reported them by text, and housekeeping came the next day, but the dead bug my daughter had killed was still on the floor afterward. The area didn't look swept or properly cleaned despite the complaint. See pictures. We wanted to love the place because of its location, but it may not suit anyone looking for a modern, clean, well-maintained stay. Update: Property management replied that this review was for the wrong business. I noticed the same response on other negative reviews, signed by Old San Juan Rentals. That doesn't make sense: Old San Juan Rentals texted me asking for a review, and I posted this same review on Expedia, where we booked. This is my real review of Old San Juan Rentals-251 C. la Fortaleza #3, and I won't change or remove it.

The unit was what I expected for the price, and it was clean, with nice, large ceiling fans. The furniture and AC were a little dated, but I'd stay again. It was noisy late at night, though it reminded me of home in NYC, and I slept like a baby. Another great trip! 🇵🇷💙

The location was great and the unit had potential, but we had a rough stay in Apt 2 at their 206 Calle Cristo building. One of the two toilets overflowed on our first night, making a big mess we had to clean up late at night. We told management right away and were assured someone would fix it, but nobody came, and they ignored my follow-up texts. We had only one working toilet for the rest of the stay, which was a major hassle for our group of five, especially since we'd booked this unit for its two bathrooms. The place was dusty and felt unclean, with several areas missed during cleaning. The showers had no hot water, and the towels smelled strongly of mildew. Between the unresolved maintenance problem, cleanliness issues, and missing basic comforts, the stay was far worse than expected. We wouldn't recommend it based on our experience.

There was black mold on curtains, the fridge, and cabinet doors and drawers, plus dirt and debris on the bathroom floor, in the kitchen fridge and toaster oven, and on the pull-out couch. The first-floor bathroom soap dispenser was broken, with its top left in the sink. There were open wall holes with electrical cords hanging out, several windows wouldn't fully close, and the back door wouldn't latch, close securely, or lock. The place was filthy and uninhabitable. My family, including small children, couldn't stay safely at 268 Calle Norzagaray, PR. Trying to reach their 24-hour line was awful. I called to report the many problems, and they were no help. It seemed they'd muted the call, then eventually hung up. They texted afterward that they'd send a cleaner the next day, but I couldn't consider letting my family stay there. Old San Juan Rentals is refusing to refund us and ignoring our follow-ups, leaving us stranded. We found a clean, maintained unit a few blocks away with a different host. We plan to report this to the municipality. I can't believe they won't refund us. Update 7.2.2025: The business replied that this wasn't their property, but my booking confirmation gave me the same business contact details. I believe they're lying to have the review removed. DO NOT RENT from Old San Juan Rentals. They're terrible to deal with and seem willing to claim the rental isn't theirs. Book elsewhere. We're still trying to get our money back for lodging that was completely uninhabitable.
