The place looks nice, but the stay came with a lot of problems. We didn’t get into our room until 4:45 pm, so we had to find something to do while waiting. The free parking is also two blocks away, not at the hotel. Noise was a constant issue. The doors don’t block sound, so you hear what’s happening outside your room, and the whole place felt more like a dorm than a boutique hotel. A coqui frog in the garden chirped all night. When I complained and asked to cancel our second night, they refused and stuck to their strict cancellation policy. They offered earplugs as the answer to the noise. That left me feeling like money mattered more to them than customer service. I learned my lesson with this one. The negative reviews seem to be starting to show up, and if you’re looking for peace and quiet, this isn’t the place.

We enjoyed how easy it was to unwind in the garden, with room to sunbathe or sit in the shade among all the lush plants. The hotel felt new and well cared for, and the staff were warm and helpful. It’s about a five-minute walk to the beach, with a lively street full of restaurants and bars only minutes away. They lend beach towels and a bag, and you can ask for chairs too. A big drawback for me was the room’s only window. It looks straight onto a walkway and the pool, so keeping the curtains open means giving up privacy. With them closed, there’s basically no daylight. Music played in the garden until 10 pm each night, and the speakers were right by our room. Local frogs were loud through the night too. Even with earplugs, sleep could be difficult, so bring good ones. We were there five nights. Halfway through, we put out the room-cleaning sign, then returned from a full day in the rainforest to find no cleaning had been done. The towels were unchanged and the bins were still full. There also wasn’t a proper spot to hang wet swimsuits or shoes after rainforest trips. Late checkout until noon costs an extra $75, though reception will hold your luggage for free.

The receptionist was welcoming and helpful, and the hotel has a lot of character. Still, it didn’t feel like a four-star place to me, more like a three-star hotel. Construction was underway during our visit, and the weather wasn’t good enough for us to use the pool. The main problem was the price for what you get. The doors are so thin that you hear everything, and at about $200 a night, it just wasn’t worth it. I wouldn’t book again.

We came in January 2026 for our first vacation in San Juan, knowing nothing about the area. We’d been deciding between here and a hotel in old San Juan, and we’re so glad we chose this one. It’s about a 10-minute Uber ride from old San Juan, which let us skip the cruise ship crowds while still enjoying the city and beaches. There are great restaurants all around, including the roofyard and raices, a Walgreens about .2 miles away on foot, and a laundromat. Two big beaches are roughly half a mile away or closer, and there’s beautiful art everywhere. Staying here made it feel like we got to enjoy more of San Juan. The staff are incredibly nice, the rooms were super clean, and the hotel is cute and picturesque. The pool is small and laid-back, and there’s a bar on weekends. They’re working on a hotel restaurant now. We hope the place does well without getting too out of control, so we can keep coming back. A heads-up for honeymooners: the walls are thin, so be considerate, since other guests can hear you. If you’re a light sleeper, you may also hate the noise. But we loved hearing the coquis and rainstorms outside our window. It really made us feel like we were in el yunque without actually being in the jungle.

The hotel looks nice, and I appreciated how friendly and polite the staff were. But for the price, the noise was far too much. You can hear sounds from the corridors and outside because the rooms are so poorly insulated. Early in the morning there were birds, cleaning staff talking on the phone, and other noise. It made sleeping in or relaxing impossible. The appearance and service were good, but the lack of soundproofing really hurt the stay.
