MetroArt Hotel has spacious rooms, a large TV, an ice bucket, complimentary toiletries, and shared coffee, ice, and water machines. The rooftop also has a jacuzzi, hot tub, and seating. I stayed four nights in total across two visits to Puerto Rico, and generally enjoyed it. A well-kept park is opposite, with restaurants nearby; the area is lively but a little rundown in spots. My balcony room needed a deep clean. It was very noisy, with the lift running almost 20 hours a day and the communal ice and water machines right behind the balcony. There were only three hangers in the wardrobe, and the shower was lukewarm. I think the hotel could be a solid 3-star place with better cleaning, plus a fridge and coffee-making facilities in the room. Bottled water at check-in would be a nice touch too. I'd give it 3.5 stars.

The friendly front desk staff were a plus, and the location worked for my one-night stay near the airport. It was also easy to walk to food, and the hotel is in an artsy part of San Juan. At first glance, it looks like a cute, contemporary boutique hotel, but the concept feels better than the actual stay. It seemed more like somewhere to crash than a nice place to spend time. The room needed basic upkeep: the shower drain backed up and spilled water onto the floor within minutes, and there were scuffs and dents on the walls. The surfaces looked clean, but the place didn't seem to have had a deep clean recently. I can be a bit fussy about hotels, but the maintenance and cleaning made it feel unclean to me. I reported the drain, but apparently it was too late in the afternoon to fix, which really limited my use of the shower. I also found it odd that the room key lists the hotel name, room number, and after-hours door code. That seems to miss some basic safety principles. The stay met my need for a reasonably priced night near the airport, but I wouldn't stay longer or likely rebook. I was most disappointed that I couldn't really use the shower.

The open terrace and hot tubs were a nice touch, and they took great care of our luggage before check-in. The rooms are contemporary and feel different from the usual hotel rooms. We only stayed one night and wished we had booked a few more. We’ll look to stay here again next time.

I had no hot water for all four days and nights. When I complained, the front desk employee said it was a known problem on the 4th floor, so it seemed they knowingly put me in a room with that issue. Twice I was told to shower in another room, and one of those bathrooms was clearly dirty from the previous guest, with used towels still there. Disgusting. There are no phones in the rooms, so you have to call from your own phone to reach the front desk, but they never answered. Staff were generally rude and unhelpful, and there was no communication or solution. Parking isn't provided, and finding street parking in the area was terrible and stressful. Cold showers, dirty rooms offered as alternatives, and poor service made this a nightmare. The hotel shouldn't be renting rooms in these conditions. I absolutely don't recommend it.

The hotel is nice and close to the airport, nightlife, places to eat, and the beach, but the cleanliness really wasn't there. My friend and I waited about half an hour to check in. There's no bell to let reception know guests have arrived, the waiting area gets crowded with people coming and going, and the receptionist is hardly there. When we got the keys, the room hadn't been cleaned at all. Trash was by the door, the beds weren't made properly, the bathroom was dirty, and there was hair in the shower. We hoped it would be cleaned the next day, but after all four nights we kept coming back to the room as we'd left it. I should've taken pictures that first night. Y'all can do better, though I guess you get what you paid for! 😭
