Hosh Al Subbar

That old stone house is something special, especially the room with its memorable cave-like ceiling. Set in a valley just beyond the main city, the motel feels peaceful while still being convenient. The owners are a lovely, welcoming family, and we've stayed here on every one of our many trips to the West Bank. It has that home-away-from-home feeling, and is a great choice if you want somewhere a little different.

The house sits in a small valley, so it's calm and quiet for sleeping, and the building itself is huge and beautifully old-fashioned. The owners are generous, friendly, and honest, and I know they take care to keep everything clean for guests. If you opt for breakfast, they'll make you a delicious meal. Enjoy your stay, this place is amazing.

I ended up staying here for a long time, and that stay became one of my best memories from my last Israel/Palestine trip. It's a family-run guesthouse with atmospheric cave rooms, and the owners and staff were really helpful. You can get groceries within walking distance and cook in the shared kitchen. The breakfast is delicious and well worth having, and by request there's also a chance to try Palestinian smoked barbecue. A lovely way to experience Palestinian hospitality.

The garden and the view are lovely, and our room was comfortable enough that we slept really well. Breakfast was generous and delicious, including homemade cheese. A great base for visiting Bethlehem and the surrounding area, I'd strongly recommend it.
