I was there some time ago in summer, when it was hot, but the house stayed cool. The big living room and kitchen are full of decor and little details, which made them really pleasant. I liked the terraces, especially the night view of the coastline. It's peaceful, good for resting and walking. We visited the Caramulo museum, which isn't far. Come see it. Published 4 Jan 25

Macieira de Alcoba is such a pretty, cosy village, and the house has loads of charm, from the exposed stone walls to the lovely decor. The barbecue area is above the house and has an incredible view. If you're after a quiet stay and a break from internet and city stress, this is a good choice. The landlady is kind, and the price is quite reasonable. I think summer would be nicer, especially for running the marked trails between the villages using the maps. All in all, a great little getaway!

It's a lovingly restored traditional granite house in excellent condition, with a terrace and yard, a covered barbecue area, and a green space with tables and chairs. There's also a secure enclosed play area for children. The village is very well kept and has watermills, and you can ask for a guided tour. Highly recommend!
