AT02 Luxury Penthouse 1 Bed, Verandas do Mar

This really needs updating, and for the price it wasn't worth it at all. One night was enough. The beds were rock hard, and the place felt very dated. We were in the second block. Maybe the other buildings are more up to date, though the third one looked similar around the pool and gym. The indoor pool shut at 6pm, which seemed very early, and it was full of children the whole time, so we couldn't use it. The jacuzzi was a tiny, warm tub that looked like it was from the 60s or 70s, with comfortable room for only two adults. The sauna cost €8 per person, which seemed extremely pricey. I'm sure the outdoor pools and mini golf make it better in summer. It wasn't a good place for winter. We didn't love Albufeira either, as it all seemed like this, unfortunately.

Good value, with friendly staff and a nice resort. You'll need a taxi to get into town.

When I booked the hotel for €304, they didn't ask me for any money. At check-in they wanted another €100 per person for security. After checkout, they gave me a bill for only €288, and one older man was very racist. I wouldn't recommend anyone come here. The kitchen appliances didn't work properly, and all of them were faulty.

The bar was brilliant, with snacks and drinks, TVs, a round pool table, an outdoor area, and a server who let people charge their phones. The apartment had a TV in the main room, two couches and a table, plus another table with seats. In the kitchen there was an oven, microwave, fridge, and the other basic things. The bathroom had a shower, sink, smaller second sink, and toilet. There was one double bed and two singles in the other bedroom, good for kids. It's a 10-minute walk to a supermarket and 20 minutes to Old Town and the strip. New Town is about 15 minutes away on foot. I'd recommend it for adults, and if you bring children, leave Newtown before 6 because it isn't safe after that. Old Town is for everyone, with food places, shops, karaoke, and loads to do. The strip is basically one long row of shops and kebab places, practically nothing. Upstairs, the pool was mostly full of drunk English men; the downstairs pool was very quiet, with the indoor pool beside it. The balcony looks out over the apartments. Brilliant place, would come again, 5/5 💯💯💯
