The views and scenery were breathtaking, and the staff were wonderful, though French seemed to be the main language and we didn’t speak it. The hotel was clean, the beds were comfortable, and we liked the wristband key access and having pool towels in the room. Mini golf, archery, table tennis, and the circus were big hits. The air conditioning was off at that time of year, though, and there were no fans in the room. The food and drinks were a big part of what we wanted from an all-inclusive stay, and that’s where we were disappointed. The buffet was decent for my husband and me, but there weren’t many options for kids aged 11 and 13. My son ate noodles all week. There were several kinds of fish, but no other seafood such as calamari, octopus, or escargot. The other restaurant had the same two meal options all week, and again they weren’t kid-friendly. Between meals, snacks were limited to things like cheese and olives, mini muffins, or biscuits. There was no poolside service, no fun slushie drinks, no room service, and no stocked fridge. We’ve had these amenities at other resorts and expected them for this price. The evening entertainment was underwhelming too. Some shows lasted only 30 minutes, the club was quiet, and it felt like the resort shut down soon after dinner. The app was the only way to see activities and times, but ours didn’t work. We asked the front desk many times and they couldn’t fix it, which made it hard for my kids to join in. Some activities, gourmet restaurants, and bars were closed Saturday, Sunday, and Monday, which was a bummer and made a poor first impression. There wasn’t much to do at the local beach, no chairs to sit on, and the sand had a lot of crap in it, with not much wildlife to see either. We saved for this trip and looked forward to it for months, so it was disappointing that it wasn’t the experience we wanted. We won’t return and don’t recommend it.

The staff were the best I’ve ever experienced, and all the included activities and service were great. The rooms were a little damaged with age, and water leaked from the shower hose, but I liked everything. Great vacation, and thanks for it all.

The coastline views from the resort were beautiful, and our family room in one of the newly renovated buildings suited us perfectly. We didn’t spend much time in the room because there were plenty of planned activities. We’ve stayed at other Club Meds, and the circus, archery, tennis, pool, and beach volleyball were familiar, but it was the people who made Da Balaia special. It felt like somewhere we’d been coming back to for years, even on our first visit. We arrived tired after a red-eye flight to Faro and a 30-minute transfer, but Mehdi, the manager, and the staff gave us such a warm welcome that it perked us up. The resort was clean and had character. Mehdi was front and center, and he and the staff created a great environment for the GMs staying there. At our first lunch, Manon, the reception manager, asked to sit with us. It could have felt awkward, but it was a fantastic way to get to know the resort and settle in. Kayden, the first GO we met, was overseeing archery. My boys got really interested in it, and he always made time to greet us, even while talking with other GOs. His hospitality made a real difference, and the boys still talk about him and hope to see him at Da Balaia or another Club Med. Leina’s acrobatic artistry still amazes the boys, and we appreciated her taking time to have dinner with us. She should help Kayden with his "can-can" dancing moves. We spent a lot of time doing archery with Enzo, but also enjoyed chatting with him outside of that. He always checked that we were having a good time and were looked after. Isabelle booked a wonderful excursion for our family and made sure it would work for everyone, including our little one, who was 3. She gave us useful tips and sent us off with water and towels. Those little things count. When we were leaving Da Balaia, she also helped us get organized for the train to Lisboa, making the ride much easier. Thank you, Isabelle. I’m sorry I can’t remember all the other GOs’ names, but everyone was great. The food was good, but the menu could use more variety. They change some things, but eating the same kind of food every meal gets tiring. One last heartfelt thank you to the Da Balaia team. The resort is fantastic, and its people are what make it special.

The balcony view was amazing, and the room was spotless with all the comforts included. Everyone on staff was kind, professional, and ready to help with any request. I also met Gianni, the resort manager, and appreciated how attentive he was to making each person’s stay the best it could be. There’s a boutique in the village too, with staff happy to help you choose what to buy. I was there for a few days last week, and the experience was incredible. Thank you for a wonderful stay!

My first time at Club Med was really awesome. There was always an activity planned or something to do, and the kids club and food were great. The staff were very nice, and the hotel looks freshly renovated. I’d come back anytime!
