We were outraged with the hotel and frustrated by Booking.com's complete lack of action. They advertised low prices, then demanded a €200 deposit at the door on a card reader, outside the booking platform, before we could even enter. It felt like a scam, and they came up with excuses not to return the full amount. Booking.com refused to take responsibility, despite my several reviews and complaints. They told me I had broken a chair on the terrace, even though we'd spent two days in Albufeira while it wouldn't stop raining and hadn't used the terrace.

The apartment was a good size and the location worked well, but the furnishings felt ancient and the balcony was tiny. The toilet was only about 30 cm from the bathtub, making it usable only by dwarves, and the house was very noisy. You also had to handle the front door with kid gloves or the glass pane might break. We had an army of bedbugs in the room. I’m not judging the landlord for that, since it may not have been their fault. Luckily, we got a Black Friday deal through Booking.com, because this apartment isn’t worth the regular price.
